Oslo, 31st August – Trailer

Unending Spiral of Melancholy

  1. Oslo August 31st is an unforgettable expereince of looking at the world around, for one day, from the perspective of an individual stuck in himself. Oslo 31 August follows Anders, a recovering drug addict who is given a day’s leave from his rehab center to apply for a job and try to reconnect with his old friends and family around the city of Oslo, where he grew up.
  2. We feel his deepest vulnerabilities and fears. So much that we can’t be any sort of a judge except to stare into the void that he feels everywhere and in himself.
  3. I encountered this film like a dream. A dream or a song of inexpressible grief. With the idea of drug addiction on the surface, it actually explores so much with beautiful restraint, delicacy and an elusive yet empathetic gaze.
